§00Changelog
Every version, and what it changed for you.
63 releases since 25 Jul 2026. Breaking changes say what to do about them, and a version that rebuilds your index says so at the top.
Archis updates itself: chi update checks what is published, verifies the release hash before writing anything, and puts the previous binary back if the new one does not start. chi update --check installs nothing.

JavaScript and XML stop being previews, and a Dockerfile is read in the order it is written.
Before you upgrade — Update. Your index rebuilds itself the first time you open it after upgrading: Go declarations changed the names they are filed under.
- BreakingA Go declaration is filed under its package instead of its file, which changes the canonical name it answers to. Anything that stored those names — a saved query, a script that reads them — has to ask again.
- LanguagesJavaScript answers with types. Archis reads the types a file declares in JSDoc, recognises a class written as an expression and a function expression that carries its own name, treats the keys of the object a module exports as the symbols they are, counts constructing a type as using it, and reports the tests a file runs.
chi statusnow lists JavaScript at full semantic support rather than as a preview. - LanguagesXML keeps its semantics in the attributes. An XML file used to be a list of tags; now an element is named by the attribute that names it, a reference to another element is a relation, and the file answers questions about symbols and relations like any other indexed language.
- NewA Dockerfile is read in the order it is written. A stage inherits from the stage its
FROMnames,COPY --from=andRUN --mount=from=are dependencies between stages, the body of aRUN,CMD,ENTRYPOINTorHEALTHCHECKis the calls it makes, and$VARpoints at theARGorENVthat declared it — so a multi-stage build stops being a flat list of instructions. - Improved
chi statussays what Archis can claim about each language it indexed, rather than only that it indexed it. Cursor has a row in the harness catalog, sochi agents on cursorregisters it the way it expects. And the sixteen commands that take a bare argument now say in--helpwhat that argument is. - FixedA backup Archis writes beside a file it edited says which file it is a backup of.

Archis Free is the whole local engine, with no card. Everything semantic runs on your machine — there is no endpoint that accepts source.
