Every version, and what it changed for you.
63 releases since 25 Jul 2026. Breaking changes say what to do about them, and a version that rebuilds your index says so at the top.
Archis updates itself: chi update checks what is published, verifies the release hash before writing anything, and puts the previous binary back if the new one does not start. chi update --check installs nothing.
0.44.0
Twelve languages stop being read by their shape alone. C, Bash, Ruby, Swift, Elixir, Lua, Zig, Groovy, Scala, HCL, GraphQL and YAML now answer with types, calls, inheritance and the tests they run.
Before you upgrade — Update, then re-index the repositories these languages live in:
chi index --full. A file that has not changed keeps the index it already has, so the new readings arrive with the rebuild and not before it.- LanguagesTwelve languages stop being read structurally. C, Bash, Ruby, Swift, Elixir, Lua, Zig, Groovy, Scala, HCL, GraphQL and YAML each answer the seven questions the rest of the index answers — what a file declares, what it calls, the types it uses, what it extends and implements, what it overrides, what it exports, and the tests it runs. Every one of them was measured against an independent oracle, in most cases the language's own compiler or parser, rather than against Archis's own output.
chi statusreports what Archis can claim about each, and at which level. - LanguagesA header in a C project is read as C. Half of what a C project declares lives in a
.h— the prototypes, the structs, the typedefs — and those headers were being read as C++, which has no types in Archis and which cut every relation at the file boundary. A.hnow belongs to C unless the file actually contains C++ syntax. - LanguagesA shell script declares things. Variables and aliases are the bulk of what a script names, and
sourceis both how it imports and how it inherits — so a Bash codebase stops being a list of functions and becomes a graph like any other. - Improved
chi statusgives the same answer about a language's capabilities however you ask it. The notice used to contradict the table above it. - FixedYour GitHub Actions workflows are indexed.
.githubwas skipped wholesale, so no workflow in any repository appeared in the graph at all. They are read as YAML now, with the jobs a workflow declares and the actions it calls. - FixedOne malformed definition in a GraphQL schema no longer costs you the rest of the file. A single bad field used to turn the whole document into a parse error and take every other definition in it down; now only the definition the grammar refuses is lost.
