§00Changelog

Every version, and what it changed for you.

63 releases since 25 Jul 2026. Breaking changes say what to do about them, and a version that rebuilds your index says so at the top.

Archis updates itself: chi update checks what is published, verifies the release hash before writing anything, and puts the previous binary back if the new one does not start. chi update --check installs nothing.

  1. 0.48.0

GitHub Copilot in VS Code gets Archis like every other agent, and an index that was damaged, renamed or moved now fixes itself instead of stopping you.

Before you upgrade — Update, then run chi agents on copilot (or chi init) once if you use VS Code, and open a new chat. Your existing indexes are kept.

    • NewVS Code is a supported agent. chi init and chi agents on copilot now register Archis with GitHub Copilot in VS Code, for every repository on the machine: the chi tools, the standing instruction that tells Copilot to use them, and the skill. Before, nothing VS Code reads was written, so Copilot never saw Archis.
    • ImprovedThe line Archis prints at the end of a task says plainly what it is comparing: what Archis sent, what reading the files would have cost, and the difference.
    • FixedA repository you renamed or moved after indexing it is rebuilt on the next call. Every chi index and chi init used to fail on it until you ran chi index --full.
    • FixedA damaged index is rebuilt by a plain chi index, and every process notices. Before, only the process that hit the damage knew about it: the next one reported the index as current, and the advice to run chi index did nothing. A damaged or outdated index is also set aside for a day instead of being deleted.
    • FixedAn interrupted index is no longer thrown away. A process that stopped at the wrong moment could leave a sound index that the next run rebuilt from scratch.
    • FixedA brief server outage no longer reads as a refused licence, and an error code the CLI does not know no longer signs you out. Your cached licence keeps working, and Archis says it will keep trying.
    • FixedThe link printed after a crash opens a prefilled support request on archis.dev instead of a page you could not open. Nothing is sent until you submit it.
    • Fixedchi agents check cursor passes against the registration chi agents on cursor writes, instead of failing every time.

Archis Free is the whole local engine, with no card. Everything semantic runs on your machine — there is no endpoint that accepts source.
